Palm sugar is a natural sweetener derived from palm tree sap (Arenga Pinnata) and is now one of Indonesia’s leading commodities in great demand in the global market. The production process starts from the traditional sap collection, which is carried out every morning and evening. Farmers climb palm trees and collect fresh sap using bamboo or special, clean jerry cans. This fresh juice is then directly processed without the addition of chemicals, through gradual heating to remove water content and produce quality solid sugar. This sugar is then processed into two forms:
Powdered Palm Sugar : Golden Brown, Moisture Content <5%
Palm Sugar Block : Natural Dark Brown, Moisture Content <7%
Palm sugar is known to have a lower glycemic index level than granulated sugar, so it is safer to consume wisely by those who pay attention to blood sugar levels. In addition, this sugar also contains several natural minerals such as potassium, calcium, and iron, which are generally not found in white sugar. Its high antioxidant content, especially from polyphenolic compounds, also provides benefits for the body in counteracting the negative effects of free radicals.
